****NEW for 2022!!!  WPR GRADE 5!!!****

Until now, "Para-Equestrian" sport, as defined by the FEI, has been open to riders with visual or measurable physical "Impairments." This has been very limiting to riders of all disciplines, and WPR continues to strive for growth and CHANGE!! In 2022, WPR is finally moving forward in order to create TRUE inclusivity for ALL RIDERS! In 2022, WPR is proud to announce the creation of Grade 5, which will open the "Para-Equestrian" model to riders challenged by ANY disability! Grade 5 will create competitive opportunity for ANY rider who historically, may not have been included in the existing definition of "Para." Riders who may have been unclassifiable on a Physical Therapy mat, now have a place to compete! Riders classified in Grade 5 will be allowed use of assistive-devices not allowed in traditional grades 1-4. Examples would include headsets to allow coaches to assist with pattern memorization, lead-line or lunge-line with ground assist to allow safe and successful completion of pattern, etc.. Riders in Grade 5 will compete against other Grade 5 riders, but will ride patterns appropriate to their level of physical ability. Grade 5 Riders who have minimal, to no physical impairment, will compete riding a Grade 4 pattern, while those who compete with severe physical impairment may be riding a Grade 1 pattern. This will allow individuals who may require assistance beyond traditional "para," an opportunity to be competitive and successful in both local and international stages! WPR is excited to see the opportunities that Grade 5 will create for Riders all around the world!!!
